Contact Lenses

When your teenager is ready for contact lenses, our optometrists will ensure the correct choice from the best available. Correct fit is extremely important. A good fit will allow greater comfort wearing the lenses, and prevent eye problems. Our office will also teach your teen in the correct use, and proper care of contact lenses to ensure your teen’s eye health.

To correct myopia, we offer a wide range of disposable lenses, which offer ease of use and safety for teenagers. To correct astigmatism, we will ensure an excellent fit of the many toric lenses now available. Our optometrists also specialize in fitting specialized lenses, such as rigid gas-permeable contact lenses, therapeutic (medical) lenses, aphakic lenses (used for infants after cataract surgery), and others.

For special occasions, or just for everyday fun, we also offer a wide range of colored lenses.

Frequently Asked Questions

1] What appointments will I need?
In addition to the annual eye examination, which is done on a separate day, two contact lens appointments are needed.

Contact lens fitting and training
At this appointment, the doctor will determine which type of lens will work best for your child. Your child will also learn the proper care of contacts and will have guided practice in handling the lenses. Expect your child to spend at least one hour in our office.

Contact lens check appointment(s)
At this appointment, the doctor ensures the proper fit to dispense the CL supply or modify the fit, if needed. This appointment is usually scheduled two weeks after the initial fit.

2] What will it cost?
There are two fees for contact lenses: one for the professional service, and another for the lens supply.

· The contact lens fit and training appointment fee is due when rendered. This fee covers any needed contact lens check appointments.

· Lenses are paid for at the time of the supply pickup.

· Custom contact lenses require a deposit of 50%, for our office to order the initial supply.

· A 20% restocking fee applies to any returns within 45 days of dispensing. No refunds can be granted after 45 days.

We do not accept insurance assignment for contact lens services. However, we will provide you with an itemized receipt for potential reimbursement by your vision plan.

3] What are my responsibilites?
Because children’s eyes are still changing, it is essential that timely follow up appointments be kept. It is possible that a contact lens fit may change due to ocular changes. A poorly fitting contact lens can cause serious problems including corneal abrasion and even loss of sight from infection. For this same reason, our contact lens prescriptions have an expiration date.
