Many parents worry about their child's eye alignment. While some children's crossed eyes may appear to straighten naturally, this is rarely the case. More likely, the child’s eyes were never actually crossed in the first place, but simply appeared to be such.


Crossed eyes (strabismus) that persist beyond infancy often require professional attention. Early intervention is crucial for the proper development of vision. If your pediatrician suggests that your child will simply outgrow crossed eyes, that’s rarely true, and your child should be seen by an ophthalmologist. Early intervention can be critical in preventing long-term vision problems.
